It started with the X-Files early on: A creepy-crawly sense this ain't James Bond; Was it
paranoia or the facts laid bare? The truth--was out--there.
The walls had ears, and
the ceiling had eyes, And Scully was a skeptic in disguise! How can I tell
you how I miss them now, Those early X-File shows?
It soon became apparent that
it was all real, And we loved that tingly chill it made us feel; Scully got abducted and we felt
her lack-- Mulder, watch your--back!
'Cuz the walls have ears and the ceiling has
eyes And Krychek is an agent in disguise! It just kept getting better, from
week to week, Knowing the walls had ears!
It started getting silly as it went mainstream,
But still it had those moments that made you scream; Scully took a call, letting Mulder in her home,
And it was Mulder--on the--phone!
The walls had ears and the ceiling had eyes
And Mulder was an alien in disguise! It was silly, it was campy, but it was scary,
too, As the X-Files made it big!
Where can you go once you've found the "Holy Grail,"
And suspended disbelief begins to pale? Alien abduction is a cover-up; The aliens--made it--up!
Still, the walls have ears and the ceiling has eyes, But now Krychek is an
oil-slick in disguise! Oh, how I miss the early days, When we believed that
the walls had ears!
Conspiracies spread with the X-Files jive To Nowhere Man, Millenium, and
Babylon Five-- Protecting his picture, Tom Veil found out He wasn't--the Nowhere--Man!
Oh, the walls had ears and the ceiling had eyes, And Tom was an agent in disguise!
'Cuz everyone's learning that it pays to say That we know that the walls have
ears!
Now just when you think that it's run its course 'Cuz paranoia's been done to death and
lost its force, Yet another show comes and falls in line--even DS-9!
So, the walls
have ears and the ceiling has eyes And even Gowron was a Changeling in disguise--
Yes, the walls have ears, and the ceiling has eyes And everywhere you look, you
find a spy;
The walls have ears, and the ceiling has eyes And all our heroes
everywhere are in disguise;
And the walls have ears, and the ceiling has eyes
And the agents are all double-agents in disguise--
But where's the suspense,
and the fun as well, When we know that the walls will have ears?
